On Saturday, the memorizers from Somalia, Uzbekistan, Iran, Palestine, and Sudan went on to the stage to answer the questions of the panel of judges on the first day of the competition.

Fazaeli was asked to recite from memory verses from Surahs Al-Baqarah, Al-Ma’idah, Ibrahim, Al-Qasas and Ash-Shura.

The memorizer told IQNA later that she was happy with her performance, saying she did as she had planned and practiced.

“I hope my recitation would be approved and favored by the panel of judges as well,” she stated.

Fazaeli also said the other four contenders of the first day were good in terms of observing the rules of Tajweed and Fasahah (eloquence) but ordinary in terms of Sawt and Lahn.

The 14th edition of Jordan’s international Quran competition for women got underway in the Arab country’s capital of Amman on Saturday.

Representatives from 50 countries are taking part in the Quranic event.

The only category of the competition is memorization of the entire Holy Quran.

The men’s competitions in Jordan will be held on April 11-17 and Iran will be represented by Ali Reza Sameri.
